Continuing our celebration of Women’s History Month, this week we are recognizing the myriad contributions of countless Asian American women; outstanding individuals who have given us so much in the areas of science, math, media, public service, education, the fine arts and many other disciplines.
Among those whose commitment to others has helped forged a path for Asian American women include:
- Kalpana Chawla, the first Indian-born woman in space
- Patsy Mink, the first woman of color in Congress
- U.S. Senator Ladda “Tammy” Duckworth (D–Illinois)
- Cecilia Chung, transgender rights activist
- Actor Anna Mae Wong
The stories of these amazing individuals can be found here. And there are so many more; Asian American women whose accomplishments and advocacy efforts are forever woven into the fabric of our society.
