Your Diversity and Inclusion Committee wants to ensure we continue to have the hard conversations and move to a more diverse and inclusive environment in all aspects of life - work, our communities, etc. That is why we are starting a monthly discussion on INteract to continue the dialogue. Each month, we will share a relevant article or even suggest a book title to read and ask that you come back to the post entitled "D & I Committee's Something to Talk About" and share your thoughts and perspectives on the article or book. You can even feel free to make suggestions on additional resources you wish to discuss.
Today, we want to start with The Journey of African-American Insurance Professionals [marsh.com] and the accompanying report that deep dives into the topic. This is a very insightful study that was produced in 2018 but is very timely. Our challenge to you is to read the article and return to this post and share your thoughts. The D & I committee will also be interacting in the discussion.
Soon, the D & I Committee plans to have this article and other timely pieces housed on the D & I's site [cpcusociety.org].
Here you can also find other great resources to help promote diversity and inclusion. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
In a ground-breaking study, The Journey of African-American Insurance Professionals provides quantitative and personal insights into the significant deficiencies of opportunity faced by African Americans over many decades at leadership and other employment levels throughout the insurance industry.
